Job Summary

As an Agile Coach you will be responsible coach and influence at all levels within our R&D organization. You will drive an increase in agility, throughput, predictably, innovation, and most importantly quality across a global software development organization. You will be creating and leveraging cutting-edge Lean and Agile methods and tools to enable teams to deliver functionality that drives customer satisfaction.

 Job Responsibilities

  • Be highly entrepreneurial. Influence executives, leaders, business units, and technology teams on Agile principles and values, as well as how to build, grow, and maintain a thriving agile organization at scale.
  • Support our Agile transformation across the entire organization, focusing on our software development teams but also working with product management, support, application hosting, etc.
  • Provide day-to-day Agile leadership coaching and training to teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, functional managers, and executives.
  • Collaborate directly with development and operational teams to coach and guide them on the mechanics of Lean and Agile methods to achieve optimal team effectiveness.
  • Deliver hands-on coaching in all aspects of Scrum and Lean Kanban -- daily meetings, planning, self-organization, collaboration, iterative development, managing flow, limiting WIP, etc.
  • Expose our teams to the latest innovative thinking and ideas from the Agile community to increase agility, leveraging Lean, Scrum, Kanban, and other agile concepts.
  • Work with our global Agile coaching team to define enterprise-wide guidelines (e.g, shared Definition of Done, SM/PO qualifications and responsibilities).
  • Create, build, and deliver a customized Agile training curriculum in alignment with our consulting partner's guidance.
  • Ensure strong organizational information flow between stakeholders in the Agile transformation.
  • Create, launch, and facilitate Agile collaborative groups, Communities of Practice, and working groups.
  • Embrace servant leadership style and display the behaviors that come with the key mindset shifts associated with the Agile methodology.
  • Coach teams and managers towards improving Agile process and metrics, evaluate and mentor existing Scrum teams, and deliver training classes for product owners, developers, and testers.
  • Report progress, identify bottlenecks and provide general performance metrics to OPX leadership that aids the organization to adjust the Agile rollout.
  • Proactively manage changes in Agile transformation project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
  • Build, develop, and grow any vendor/partner relationships vital to the success of the program.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an Agile software development environment .
  • Experience and knowledge in various project methodologies: waterfall, Scrum, Agile, Lean Kanban, etc.
  • Extensive understanding and experience in a software product development.
  • Experience in mentoring/leading other members of the software engineering team.
  • Knowledge of project management practices in an agile environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence leaders at all levels within an enterprise.
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) or equivalent work experience in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field
  • Agile certification/training, Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar Agile credentials
  • Solid technical skills using various software tools and environments (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Ability to train and mentor others in technology and software methodologies.
  • Knowledge of tools for agile development teams and able to train/mentor others in using.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as an Agile coach or trainer
  • Experience in leading an organization through a transformation from waterfall to Agile
  • Ability to define enterprise-wide milestones and goals and produce a plan to achieve them
  • Healthcare industry experience and knowledge
  • Experience with software development process standards, e.g. ISO, CMMI, FDA etc.
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables for the design of new products and the enhancement of existing products; ability to apply the methodology in diverse scenarios.
  • MS, MBA or equivalent degree with emphasis in Computer Science or related field
  • PMI-ACP or similar certification
