Title: Requirements Engineer

Department: Requirements Engineer

Job Summary:

The Requirements Engineer is part of the team building state-of-the-art healthcare applications that will empower hundreds of thousands of providers and administrators in the Healthcare delivery process. You will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and documenting product requirements, which includes creating workflows and documenting use cases to support the NextGen product suite. The Requirements Engineer will be responsible for defining and creating requirements including identifying functionality, developing use cases, analyzing work flow, identifying business and regulatory needs, and defining system output. Defining the functional requirements involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and performing clinical and business analysis in order to determine the optimal clinical content and work flow.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Defining and creating requirements based on business and regulatory needs
  •  Writes functional requirements (use cases, work flow, data/content input, document output, etc.)
  •  Prepares solutions by determining and designing system specifications and standards
  • Analyzes and independently identifies complex problems within the software and/or client’s data to create     requirements
  • Supports developers in implementing requirements by prioritizing, refining, and interpreting requirements
  • Provides input to short term plans, i.e. action plans to resolve client problems
  • Develops requirements and specifications for software solutions by studying information needs: conferring with users; studying systems flows, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas
  • Determines operations feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions
  • Maintains product item/requirements backlog
  • Functions as liaison between development and product management
  • Tracks and documents progress of requirements.  Identifies and describes roadblocks, propose and troubleshoot solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years healthcare experience with electronic health records
  • Knowledge of US healthcare regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Familiarity with clinical standards, outcome measures, clinical quality measures and documentation in clinical information systems
  • Use Case writing experience
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in research and writing software requirements
  • Experience with information analysis, software design, documentation, testing, development fundamentals and processes.
  • Experience building scalable enterprise web applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Technology oriented – technical aptitude

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Agile methodology a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or healthcare-related field
